Ice Maker Repair — Book a Visit Today
We repair ice makers in refrigerators and standalone units across Hawaii, so call us and tell us what you hear and see. Ice makers work hard here. Humid air means the freezer fights condensation, and salt air goes after metal fittings and control boards over time. The usual failures are a clogged or frozen fill line, an inlet valve that no longer opens, a tired ice mold heater, a stuck ejector arm, or a thermostat reading the wrong temperature. On a visit we listen to the unit run through a cycle, check water pressure at the valve, test the mold heater and motor, then look for leaks behind the panel. If a part has to come across the water, we tell you up front instead of leaving you guessing.

The ice maker symptoms we hear most
- "It makes ice, but the cubes are tiny and hollow" Low water fill from a restricted line, a weak inlet valve, or low household pressure
- "Nothing comes out at all anymore" Frozen fill tube, failed inlet valve, or a control board that stopped cycling
- "There's a solid slab of ice in the bin" Slow melt-and-refreeze from a bad mold heater, or a door seal letting warm air in
- "Water is dripping down the back of the freezer" Cracked fill cup, misaligned fill tube, or a leaking valve connection
- "The ice smells funny and tastes stale" Old filter, absorbed food odors, or bin ice that has sat too long without turnover
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Make sure the freezer door closes all the way and the ice maker's on-off arm or switch has not been bumped off.
- 2Look behind the fridge for a kinked or pinched water line, and confirm the shutoff valve is open.
- 3Check how long since the water filter was changed, because a clogged filter starves the fill cycle.
- 4Empty the bin completely, then see whether fresh cubes come out clean and full-sized after a few hours.

How long should one batch of ice take?
Most home units drop a batch every ninety minutes to two hours once the freezer holds around zero degrees. Slower than that usually points to fill problems or a freezer running warm. Note the timing before we arrive. It narrows things down.
Why does my ice taste bad even though the water is fine?
Ice absorbs odors from open food and from a bin that sits unused, and a stale filter adds flavors too. We check the filter age, the seal, and the bin. Sometimes a full cleanout and a fresh batch solves it.
Can you fix a standalone or under-counter ice machine?
Yes. Under-counter and freestanding units share the same trouble spots as refrigerator makers, plus drain pumps and condenser coils that clog with dust. Island humidity makes coil cleaning matter more than folks expect.
Is a leaking ice maker urgent?
Treat it as urgent. Water that escapes the fill cup refreezes into a slab, then finds its way onto flooring. Shut the water line off at the valve, then call us so we can look before the damage spreads.
Do you have to replace the whole ice maker assembly?
Not always. A heater, thermostat, motor, or inlet valve can often be swapped on its own. When the assembly is sealed as one module, replacement is the only route. We explain which situation you have.
What if the part has to be shipped in?
Some components are not stocked locally and travel by boat or air. We order as soon as the diagnosis is set and keep you posted on arrival. If a workaround keeps ice coming meanwhile, we show you.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the sound
Call us or fill in the form and describe what you hear, smell, or see. Puddle under the washer? Clicking from the fridge? Small details help us load the right parts before we drive out.
- Step 2
We look it over
Our tech opens the machine and tests for the real cause instead of guessing. Salt-eaten terminals and humid control boards hide well. You hear exactly what failed and which repair options make sense.
- Step 3
Fixed or scheduled
Many repairs finish on the same visit with parts off the van. When something has to ship in from the mainland, we tell you straight, order it, and keep you posted until it lands.

Why homeowners call us
- Built for salt airCoastal homes chew through appliances. We check for corroded connectors, rusted brackets, and moisture sitting in control boards, because fixing the symptom means little if salt keeps eating the same part next season.
- Humidity knows-howDamp trade wind air makes dryers work harder and vents clog faster. We clear the airflow path and test moisture sensors, then explain the small habits that keep your laundry room from fighting the weather.
- Straight talk on partsShipping across the Pacific takes time, and we say so up front instead of vanishing. You get realistic timing and a plan for the wait. If a machine isn't worth waiting for, we'll tell you that too.
- Independent and localWe are an independent repair company and we work on all major brands. No sales pitch for a new unit. Neighbors talking to neighbors, in plain words, about the machine sitting in your kitchen right now.
- All major brands, gas & electricWhirlpool, Samsung, LG, GE, Maytag, Bosch, KitchenAid and more, as an independent repair company.
- Straight answersWhen a repair doesn't make sense, we tell you, sometimes before we even roll a truck.
